I’m Dr. Sheila Thomas, educator, author, and proud mother of two HBCU musicians. Thomas Educational Consulting and Training began as a personal mission to stand in the gap for parents and sons and build stronger partnerships between home and school. My work centers around one belief: when a child knows someone is in their corner, they rise higher.

Meet J.R.
J.R. represents every boy and girl who tries, feels discouraged, and chooses to try again. He was inspired by my sons, James Jr. and Erick Jr., who explored new interests and learned to keep going when things did not work out. Each time, I reminded them:
“Son, never give up. I know you can. I will always be your biggest fan.”
Those words became our family promise. In time, both found their passion in music and the drums, which led them to the band programs at Morehouse College and North Carolina A&T State University, two HBCUs that honor history, pride, and excellence.

My sons’ journey of resilience and rhythm inspired J.R.’s Biggest Fan. I wrote it to help families speak life into their children, especially when things don’t go as planned. Each page reminds children to be brave when afraid, bold when trying something new, and brilliant in their unique gifts.
